Position Summary
The Technical & Corporate Accounting Manager is responsible for performing technical accounting analysis of transactions, new accounting standards, and preparing technical memos. This role will also manage the Corporate Accounting function, including month-end close activities related to operating expenses such as equity compensation, payroll, accounts payable, capitalized software, and corporate debt.
Responsibilities & Duties
Monitor and ensure compliance with evolving accounting guidance, provide US GAAP interpretation, and prepare technical memorandums.
Write technical accounting and policy memos to support conclusions on transactions.
Assist in the scoping and implementation of new accounting standards.
Review daily accounts payable activity.
Manage the accounting close process for operating expense accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, capitalized software, and corporate debt.
Maintain policies and procedures for areas of responsibility.
Execute internal controls over responsibilities as required by SOX 404 and liaise with internal audit.
Coordinate annual audits and quarterly reviews with external auditors, including providing supporting documentation and resolving issues.
Manage a team with 1 direct report.
Required Experience & Education
Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred.
5+ years of experience with an accounting firm or in public/private sectors with SEC and financial reporting exposure.
Experience in financial services and/or mortgage REIT industries is a plus.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC regulations, with the ability to research and propose positions on complex issues.
Experience with Workday and Workiva/W-desk systems.
Experience with system implementations is a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage ambiguity and complexity.
Strong follow-through and documentation skills.
Candidate should be knowledgeable, creative, goal-oriented, energetic, and hardworking.
Estimated total compensation ranges from $111,000 to $142,000, based on experience, location, and qualifications.
