Supervisory Human Resources Specialist (Deputy Chief, Staffing & Employee Relations Section)

This position is located in the Human Resource Management Division, Personnel Director's Branch, Staffing and Employee Relations Section (SERS), Bureau of Prisons (BOP), Washington, D.C. Responsible for planning, developing, and administering staffing programs for the BOP. Provides guidance to HR Specialists in field institutions, Central Office, regional offices, and other key management officials. Adjudicates staffing issues that are precedent setting, involve national policy, or are of a key organizational nature. Reviews tentative OPM qualification standards, anticipating their effect on prison positions, and provides comments on related OPM and DOJ proposed issuances with national impact. Salary
$120,579 - $156,755/year Conditions of Employment
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) and Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP) provide eligible displaced Federal and Department of Justice employees with selection priority. Education: No substitution of education for specialized experience. Experience: At least one year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade in federal service, involving staffing, recruitment, and merit promotion procedures, and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations. This position is not included in the bargaining unit. The representative rate is $132,638 per annum. Initial appointment requires a probationary period, and the incumbent may be subject to geographic relocation, background checks, and drug testing.
