Piedmont Heart Institute is seeking a highly skilled Thoracic Surgeon to co-lead the development of a new Lung Transplant program at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, alongside the Transplant Pulmonology Medical Director. The candidate will establish and co-manage all aspects of the program, including patient evaluations, surgical procedures, and post-transplant care, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Developing policies and procedures for the lung transplant program in accordance with CMS and UNOS/OPTN guidelines. Evaluating potential transplant candidates for lung eligibility. Performing lung transplant surgeries and managing postoperative care. Coordinating with transplant team members to ensure seamless patient care. Providing education and support to patients and families throughout the transplant process. Engaging in research and quality improvement initiatives to enhance outcomes. Requirements: Meet OPTN bylaws for Primary Lung Transplant Surgeon (Appendix I, pg. 168-172).
