in a high-profile U.S. Navy nuclear cruise missile program. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and a background in
submarine-launched missile systems
. This position is fully onsite in
Rockville, MD
and requires an active
Secret clearance
, with eligibility for a Top Secret. Responsibilities of the Chief Weapon Systems Engineer: Provide technical direction and oversight for systems engineering and integration activities supporting the SLCM-N program. Lead the development and implementation of engineering processes to ensure performance, safety, and reliability requirements are met. Ensure consistent application of engineering standards across all SLCM-N lifecycle phases. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, test, logistics, program management) to coordinate technical activities. Support the Navy SSP Program Office through technical reviews, risk assessments, and program milestone events. Ensure compliance with Navy and DoD regulations, including safety, security, and export control standards. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance engineering efficiency and quality. Communicate effectively with government stakeholders, anticipate system-level impacts, and provide architectural insight using tools like Cameo. Qualifications for the Chief Weapon Systems Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline. 10 + years
of experience in systems engineering, integration, and testing, with at least
15 years of total engineering experience
preferred. In-depth knowledge of theSLCM-N missile system, including its design, development, and testing. Background inVirginia-class submarine programs(e.g., PMS 450 or PMS 425) or similar missile systems. Familiarity withnuclear cruise missile programs, such as legacyTomahawkorAir Force LRSOsystems. Experience withdescriptive architecture in Cameoandrequirements/interface definition. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Certifications such asCSEP(Certified Systems Engineering Professional) orCIS(Certified Integration Specialist) are
preferred Active Secret clearance
with the ability to obtain Top Secret. Compensation and Benefits: ·
$180,000 - $230,000 Dependent on experience ·
