Overview
St. Ignatius Parish is seeking a full-time, dynamic, and collaborative leader to serve as the Director of Music and Liturgy. ( There is no school associated with the parish. )
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Music or 1-2 years of experience in a church and/or choir setting. Experience in both traditional and contemporary sacred music.
Strong keyboard skills (piano and organ).
If no experience with organ, must be willing to learn. Strong ability in forming and directing cantors, choirs, and accompanists. Collaborate and communicate effectively with parish staff and volunteers. Familiar with Catholic liturgical principles. Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church. Responsibilities Plans, prepares, and plays music for all daily/weekend Masses and other liturgies. Plans funeral liturgies with bereaved families; prepares readings, schedules servers, provides music for funeral services. Plans wedding liturgies with engaged couples; provides music for weddings. Directs and forms choirs with rehearsals for Masses and other liturgies. Collaborates with parish instrumentalists (guitar, violin) to provide music for Masses. Maintains music library with appropriate selections for various liturgical occasions. Reports music usage via One License and CCLI. Coordinates various liturgical duties in cooperation with the pastor. Schedules usher-greeters, servers, and sacristans; serves as point-person for liturgical communications.
