Interested applicants should send a cover letter, CV and the contact information for three references to jproussa@bu.edu . Description

The Roussarie lab is interested in understanding the molecularunderpinnings of selective neuronal vulnerability in Alzheimer's disease. It therefore has a strong focus on neurons from layer II of entorhinalcortex. Using wild-type mice, mouse models of the disease, and humanpostmortem tissue, its members want to identify molecular and functionalcharacteristics of these neurons that distinguish them from neurons moreresistant to the disease. The scientists are also developing differentiation protocols to make entorhinal cortex layer II neurons in vitro, as a platform to testcandidate vulnerability genes. The lab is now looking for a postdoc to work on an NIH-funded project focusing ona layer II-enriched miRNA targeting tau. The postdoc would investigateregulation of neuronal function and vulnerability to AD pathology by thismiRNA, dysregulation of the miRNA in AD, as well as potential cross-speciesdifferences between mouse and humans. Requirements

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in neuroscience or graduateshortly. Strong track record in molecular neuroscience—in particular genomicsand/or cell-type specific/single-cell technologies. Experience with mouse histology techniques is a plus. Additional experience with in vitro cell-based models is a plus. Strong interest in neuroanatomy and/or Alzheimer's disease. Strong curiosity and motivation are required.
