Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) eligible through the Federal government Information about the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) can be found at www.corrections.nebraska.gov. Duties: Assign, schedule, and oversee inmate work to meet timelines and quality standards. Monitor, document, and report inmate performance, training needs, and behavior. Train inmates in sanitation tasks and inspect living areas for safety and cleanliness. Write reports on inspections, grievances, disciplinary actions, and performance. Observe inmate behavior, address issues, and provide orientation on rules and expectations. Assist in developing treatment plans by researching backgrounds and counseling inmates. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain order. Participate in disciplinary hearings and recommend corrective actions or program changes. Work includes mandatory and voluntary overtime, covering all shifts, weekends, and holidays. Requirements/Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree in criminal justice, behavioral science, human services or related field OR two years of experience working with persons referred through the legal system. Must be at least 18 years of age. No felony or domestic abuse related convictions. Preferred: Bilingual skills in English and Spanish desired and assessed. Other: Must have a valid drivers license. Transcripts required at time of appointment. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass a medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program. Benefits
