Human Resources Generalist I

A Senior HR Generalist is responsible for overseeing a variety of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance with labor laws, and ensuring the application of the basics of HRM in all processes. The goal is to ensure the HR department's operations will be running smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the organization as a whole. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications. Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Inputs new hire payroll and personal information into ADP Workforce Now. To assist with retention, performs early performance evaluations for hourly employees. The feedback is escalated and recommendations for changes proposed. Updates training matrix direct and indirect operators. Tracks employee training records to assure they have been completed and turned in as required. Tracks and grades new hire 101 training 5-day buddy and operator evaluations / tests for new operators to assure IATF compliance. Knowledge and practice of Hutchinson's Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department. May assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations. Requirements: Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have good computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Teams. Education &/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. At least one year of automotive experience required. One to five years of Human Resource Generalist experience required. At least one year of human resource management experience preferred. SHRM-CP a plus. Mathematical Skills: Basic math Computer Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, ADP Workforce Now, ADP Enhanced Time Preferred Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Society of Human Resource Management or Equivalent Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Work Environment: The employee will be in a shared office environment. There may be occasions where the employee will have tasks to perform in a Manufacturing environment, where Personal Protective Equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses and Safety Shoes are required.
