Deputy State Surgeon
This position is in the Office of the State Surgeon, Joint Force Headquarters - State (JFHQ-ST). Serves as the Joint Force Headquarters - State (JFHQ-ST) Deputy State Surgeon. The incumbent serves as the State Surgeon's full time representative. The purpose of the position is to plan, coordinate, direct, and implement the medical readiness administrative programs of the state and provide oversight/supervision for the other programs located in the Office of the State Surgeon. Work may be performed in a variety of settings including, but not limited to healthcare related facilities such as medical centers, clinical offices, laboratories and medical research centers. Incumbents often work as part of a team coordinating care for a population of patients Requirements: National Guard Membership Is Required. This is a Title 32 Technician Vacancy that requires membership in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the closing date of the job vacancy. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. Qualifications: This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service Position Open To The Following Area Of Consideration (AOC): Area of Consideration: This position is open to Area 1 Only. Area 1: Current employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard (Tenure 1 and 2) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard Specialized Experience Requirements: 1-year equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Conditions Of Employment & Notes: Work may require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this positions. The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment. Evaluation of Experience for Grants Administration Positions: For positions at grades GS-12 and above involved in professional work in grants administration, qualifying experience is considered to be experience in grants administration in areas of science, medical and healthcare fields similar or related to the work of the position. Such experience must have involved professional judgment of a kind and level of difficulty and responsibility essential to successful performance in the position to be filled.
