Graduate Intern - Electric Transmission Area Planning
Dominion Energy's ET Area Planning team is seeking a motivated intern to support the development of transmission expansion plans that ensure system reliability, meet future customer demand, and contribute to achieving our Net Zero carbon emissions goal by 2050. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in electric utility planning and engineering, working within the PJM Regional Transmission Expansion Planning Process (RTEPP). Responsibilities include: Assisting in evaluating transmission system needs and developing expansion plans. Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders. Supporting the development of transmission solutions for new substations and data centers. Contributing to competitive FERC Order 1000 processes. Helping prepare project scopes, justifications, and presentations. Participating in meetings and discussions with PJM and regulatory bodies. Performing other duties as assigned to support the team's objectives. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Earned a bachelor's degree in an engineering field and be accepted to and working on a master's or Ph.D. degree in engineering. Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices. Working knowledge of analysis software packages. General understanding of AC/DC fundamentals. Interest in electric utility systems. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Analytical mindset with attention to detail. Self-motivator who can work cooperatively in a team environment. Education Requirements: Earned a bachelor's degree in an engineering field and be accepted to and working on a master's or Ph.D. degree in engineering. Candidates must have a 3.2 minimum GPA. Students must have a graduation date of Winter 2026, Spring 2027, or Winter 2027.
