Mobile Building Engineer
Core Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and other facility systems. Conduct facility inspections and report conditions affecting client operations. Respond to emergencies and ensure safe, effective resolution. Recommend improvements to maintenance programs and submit monthly operational reports. Systems Operation & Maintenance Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC systems (compressors, condensers, evaporators, coils, valves). Maintain boilers, heaters, pumps, and steam/water distribution systems. Manage building automation systems (BAS) for HVAC. Plumbing Repair/replace water piping, steam traps, sewage lines, and fixtures. Maintain water filters, softeners, pumps, and sprinkler systems. Operate and repair sanitary sewer systems and sump pumps. Electrical Perform electrical repairs (conduit installation, cable pulling, panel maintenance). Maintain motors and engines powering facility equipment. General Maintenance Tasks Repair toilets, dispensers, radiators, furniture, floors, and door hardware. Replace lamps, clean fixtures, remove ceiling tiles, and perform minor painting. Maintain trash compactors, kitchen equipment (excluding tenant-owned), and floor maintenance tools. Replace fire extinguishers and perform miscellaneous handyman tasks. Safety & Compliance Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE. Comply with all codes, regulations, and directives. Complete required safety training and maintain necessary licenses. Maintain clean and safe work areas. Vehicle & Mobility Use company-assigned vehicle; ensure maintenance, registration, insurance, and expense reporting via C&W systems. May require travel to client sites, including Controlled Environmental Vaults (CEVs), with strict safety protocols. Related Requirements Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Trade school or apprenticeship program graduate preferred. Experience: Minimum 4 years of technical experience in building engineering. Strong background in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, equipment repair, and system design. Licenses & Certifications: Valid state driver's license required. Location-specific trade licenses (e.g., Journeyman, Master Electrician, Steam Engineer) may be required. EPA Section 608 "Universal" certification for refrigerants required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Proficient in HVAC, boilers, pumps, refrigerant systems, and energy management systems. Strong knowledge of building systems operations and repair. Excellent interpersonal skills for tenant/client/vendor interactions. Basic computing skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) and mobile device proficiency.
