Job Summary

As an Audit Managing Director, you will hold a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving the strategic direction of our audit practice. Your extensive experience in audit and assurance, combined with exceptional leadership skills, will shape the firm's commitment to delivering exceptional client service, maintaining the highest standards of quality, and fostering the growth of our audit professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership for the governmental audit practice, setting long-term goals, strategies, and objectives to position the firm as a leader in audit and assurance services.
  • Collaborate with other Managing Directors to shape the firm's overall strategic direction and growth initiatives.
  • Cultivate and maintain high-level client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to clients in strategic audit and business matters.
  • Offer expert insights and recommendations to clients for optimizing financial processes, controls, and reporting.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of evolving accounting standards, regulatory changes, and industry trends, applying this knowledge to audit engagements.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, seminars, and conferences, contributing to its thought leadership and industry influence.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning within the audit practice.
  • Provide strategic mentorship and coaching to audit team members to develop leadership and technical skills.
  • Oversee the quality and integrity of audit documentation, reports, and conclusions, ensuring adherence to professional standards.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for expanding the firm's client base and services.
  • Lead business development efforts, including proposals and networking activities.
  • Assess and manage risks associated with audit engagements and ensure compliance with standards and policies.
  • Contribute to the advancement of the audit profession through thought leadership and innovation.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise subordinate team members.

Work Environment

  • Professional office setting with minimal distractions.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged sitting and computer work; ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

Travel Requirements

  • Frequent and unpredictable travel based on client needs.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 10+ years relevant experience, including 8+ years in audit within a CPA firm with leadership roles.
  • Experience with government and local municipalities.
  • Deep knowledge of governmental accounting standards (GASB, Yellow Book, GAAP).
  • CPA license required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or additional certifications.
