About The Role
As the People Operations Generalist at Mochi Health, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our People function. You’ll take ownership of key systems, processes, and policies that support our expanding, multi-state team. From managing HRIS, benefits, and compliance to overseeing onboarding, offboarding, and payroll support, you'll focus on creating workflows that are accurate, scalable, and efficient. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on organization, values clean and reliable data, and approaches challenges with a systems-driven mindset. You'll collaborate closely with both our business and clinical teams to enhance the employee experience and ensure our infrastructure grows responsibly alongside the company.
What You’ll Do
Own and optimize our HRIS and people systems (e.g., BambooHR, Ease, and more)
Audit, clean, and maintain employee data for accuracy and compliance
Automate repetitive tasks and build scalable processes
Administer employee benefits (health, dental, vision, leave programs)
Support payroll processes, including pre-payroll audits, tax documentation, and status changes
Partner with vendors to troubleshoot issues and ensure accurate deductions
Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (especially in multi-state contexts)
Maintain up-to-date policies, employee handbooks, and legal postings
Conduct internal audits and manage sensitive documentation securely
Coordinate end-to-end onboarding for new hires (system access, welcome kits, benefits setup)
Continuously improve employee lifecycle touchpoints for quality and consistency
Be the first line of support for employee questions around HR policies, benefits, and time off
Help resolve employee relations issues with discretion and empathy
Who You Are
2+ years in a People Ops or HR Generalist role, ideally in a high-growth, CA-based, and/or multi-state setting
Hands-on experience with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., BambooHR, ADP, Gusto)
Proven ability to support payroll, benefits administration, and HR compliance
Systems thinker with a love for process, structure, and automation
Thrives on clean data, accurate records, and operational efficiency
Detail-oriented and self-motivated; you don’t drop balls and you always follow through
An excellent communicator, capable of effectively collaborating with employees, managers, and external vendors
Confident navigating U.S. employment law, especially across multiple states
Experience scaling HR systems at an early-stage startup
Nice to Have
Experience supporting healthcare or telehealth teams
Familiarity with payroll tax filings, COBRA, and ACA reporting
HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR)
Exposure to compensation planning or employee engagement programs

The base salary for this full-time position ranges from $90,000 to $110,000, in addition to benefits. The salary range listed in each job posting represents the minimum and maximum targets for new hire salaries across all locations. Actual compensation within this range is determined by various factors, such as job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and location.
