Software Dev Engineer-II, Publisher Tools
The Kindle Publishing Tools (PubTools) team owns the self-service content creators tools. Our vision is to enable all content creators to prepare and publish their work easily and efficiently to Kindle, providing a wide selection of high-quality books with unique Kindle features for our customers. Our product portfolio includes Kindle Create (KC), Kindle Previewer (KPR), Online Previewer (OPR), integrated with KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing), and tools like Kindle Comic Book Creator (KC2) and Kindle Kids Book Creator (KKBC).
As part of the team, you will invent, design, and develop end-to-end products to simplify the book creation experience and ensure high quality.
Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and deliver innovative products and services to customers.
- Design and implement system architecture and underlying components. Establish design principles, select design patterns, and promote best practices for software development across multiple teams.
- Anticipate bottlenecks, make trade-offs, and balance business needs with technical constraints.
- Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- 3+ years of experience supporting title development, release, or live ops in the Video Games Industry.
- 3+ years of programming experience using modern languages such as Java, C++, or C#, with object-oriented design skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience in the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
