Volunteer Role: Frontend Developer (Volunteer)
Project : Volunteer Metrics Hub
Modality : Remote | Volunteer management, nonprofit technology, data-driven impact
Are you passionate about building user-centric digital experiences that create real-world impact?
Living Stones Foundation is leading the development of the Volunteer Metrics Hub , a groundbreaking initiative that transforms how nonprofits across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America manage their volunteer programs — locally and internationally. We are looking for a mission-driven Frontend Developer to help us build a scalable, multilingual, and intuitive digital platform that improves volunteer onboarding, engagement, and performance tracking, while ensuring compliance with international visa programs like OPT and CPT.
About The Volunteer Metrics Hub
The Volunteer Metrics Hub is a comprehensive digital platform that automates and streamlines every phase of the volunteer lifecycle: recruitment, registration, onboarding, assignment, performance evaluation, and reporting.
It is designed to be multilingual, secure, and compliant with data privacy and immigration requirements — empowering nonprofits to manage global volunteers efficiently.
The platform integrates seamlessly with popular productivity tools (e.g., Calendly, ClickUp, Trello), and is adaptable for replication by other mission-driven organizations in the U.S. and Canada that face similar operational and legal challenges.
Role: Frontend Developer (Volunteer)
As a Frontend Developer , you will help design and develop an intuitive, accessible, and responsive user interface that supports volunteers, coordinators, and leadership across regions and languages. Your work will directly impact how nonprofits engage with volunteers and manage cross-border programs, using technology as a force for good.
Key Responsibilities
UI/UX Implementation

  • Develop and maintain responsive, clean, and well-structured frontend components using React.js or similar frameworks.
  • Translate Figma or AdobeXD designs into high-quality code with attention to detail, usability, and accessibility.
  • Ensure the platform delivers a seamless experience across devices, browsers, and languages.
Integration and Optimization
  • Integrate third-party tools and APIs such as Calendly, ClickUp, and Trello into the platform’s frontend.
  • Optimize frontend performance to ensure fast load times and a smooth user experience.
  • Build multilingual interfaces, with proper implementation of internationalization (i18n) and localization best practices.
Collaboration and Development
  • Work closely with backend developers, data analysts, and UX/UI designers in a collaborative, remote-first environment.
  • Participate in regular code reviews and contribute to documentation, testing, and quality assurance processes.
  • Contribute ideas to enhance platform features, usability, and scalability.
Requirements
We are seeking a frontend developer with strong technical skills and a heart for social innovation. The ideal candidate is comfortable building modern, accessible, and scalable interfaces that support diverse nonprofit users.
Technical Requirements
  • Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), with strong experience using React.js (or similar frameworks like Vue.js, Angular).
  • Solid knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and component-based development.
  • Experience with state management tools (Redux, Context API, or similar).
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON, and asynchronous data handling.
  • Experience working with component libraries (Material UI, Tailwind CSS, etc.).
  • Use of version control tools (Git/GitHub) in collaborative projects.
  • Basic understanding of testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress, React Testing Library).
UX, Accessibility, and Communication
  • Ability to translate UI/UX mockups into functional, clean frontend components.
  • Awareness of accessibility (WCAG 2.1) standards and inclusive design.
  • Familiarity with internationalization (i18n) best practices for multilingual user interfaces.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in remote, multicultural teams.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a flexible volunteer-based structure.
Languages
  • Spanish is required, as many of our stakeholders and volunteers are native Spanish speakers.
  • English proficiency is a strong plus, especially for internal collaboration and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Next.js, TypeScript, or progressive web apps (PWAs).
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, sprint planning, and remote work tools (ClickUp, Trello, Slack).
  • Interest or background in the nonprofit sector, volunteer management systems, or international cooperation.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and their frontend implications.
  • Confidence in presenting ideas or leading small demos is a plus.
Why Join Us?
  • Be part of a visionary initiative combining technology, data, and social impact.
  • Build a product used by nonprofits in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.
  • Collaborate with professionals from top global universities and gain hands-on experience building scalable platforms.
  • Make a real difference in how organizations recruit, empower, and care for international volunteers.
  • Receive a certificate of participation and letter of recommendation upon successful completion of your engagement. We welcome candidates who are eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT). This volunteer position is structured to meet OPT requirements, with a minimum commitment of 24 hours per week and a duration of at least 12 months. Volunteers will receive formal documentation of participation, aligned with U.S. visa compliance standards. ---
Additional Details
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: Flexible, minimum 20 hours per week
  • Meetings: Biweekly (30–45 minutes)
  • Duration: Minimum 7 months
  • Languages: English (preferred) Spanish (is a plus)
  • Bonus: Public speaking or presentation skills
