Job Description
The Director of Category Management is responsible for leading strategic procurement efforts to enable business units and functional partners to maximize value from suppliers and meet their objectives. The role involves working with internal stakeholders from need identification to final goods, encompassing supplier identification, supply analysis, sourcing, contract negotiation, program implementation, and performance management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent experience.
- 10 years of experience in Global Sourcing, Supply Chain, or Procurement.
- Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Strong communication skills across all organizational levels and external contacts.
- Ability to evaluate options quickly and accurately.
- Capability to work effectively under stress and high-pressure situations.
- Skilled in problem-solving, anticipating, preventing, and resolving issues.
- Excellent listening and clarification skills.
- Ability to understand financial data and perform basic arithmetic.
- Maintains composure and objectivity under pressure.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee procurement activities to reduce costs and improve quality.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand business objectives.
- Develop and implement category strategies for cost leverage, quality, delivery, and risk management.
- Align procurement performance with business needs.
- Create benchmarks and metrics, including vendor compliance scorecards.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure sourcing strategies are followed.
- Identify and develop suppliers capable of meeting business needs.
- Generate reports to monitor program usage, spend, and supplier performance.
- Collaborate with Legal/Contracts on third-party agreements.
- Support procurement activities related to contracting and supplier management.
- Build strong relationships to increase sourcing influence over category spend.
