Executive Director, Accounting & Finance Recruitment - Asset & Wealth Management

The primary role of the US Head of Tax position will be to oversee all aspects of the U.S. domestic tax function of a prominent Hedge Fund in Manhattan including Tax compliance, structuring and planning. This person will also lead automation efforts for the tax function, manage a lean team, and be part of senior management in the firm.

Role Description:

Management and internal initiatives

• Day to day oversight of US tax team (Compliance (6) and Structuring (2))
• Regular interaction with European/Asia head of tax on relevant matters
• Work with COO/CFO, dept. leaders and firm Managing Members/MDs on consistent basis
• Interaction and support for Partner personal/estate planning activities
• Investor interactions on tax reporting for existing funds and planning for new fund launches
• Assist in preparation of ad-hoc projects and requests
• Utilize technology and third parties to drive change and create efficiencies in the process
• Mentor and coach US tax team to help facilitate their career growth and further develop their skills, both soft and technical

Compliance

• Oversight of partnership and corporate, federal and SALT tax returns (by “big four” firm)
• Oversight of partnership allocations and K-1s prepared by outside accounting firm
• Oversight of preparation of tax estimates for outside investors
• Oversight of all tax reporting to firm managing members, including estimates and K-1
• Oversight of firm transfer pricing analysis
• Guide the implementation of firm investments into the reporting life cycle

Structuring

• Review of US based on market and private transactions across the spectrum of the funds
• Involvement in structuring of new funds and interaction with potential investors
• Interaction with the firm's outside consulting group on portfolio company restructures

Role Requirements:

• Post graduate tax degree preferred (MBA, JD with tax concentration or LLM)
• 12+ years of relevant experience, (including public accounting), in house asset management experience preferred
• Experience in team management
• In depth knowledge of the U.S. tax code and tax regulations
• Strong knowledge of international tax as it relates to the asset management industry
