Company Description:

Our CPG client is looking for a strong Corporate Controller who will lead the Accounting Department and play a pivotal role in the continued success of the Company. Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for ensuring monthly financial statements are complete, accurate, and in compliance with GAAP, and managing the day-to-day accounting activities. Their ideal candidate must have strong CPG, preferably retail experience, and progressive accounting experience.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial results in accordance with GAAP.
• Direct all aspects of accounting operations, including execution of operational accounting policy, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue recognition, and other accounting activities.
• Manage comprehensive inventory accounting, ensuring accuracy and proper valuation for a diverse range of consumer products.
• Manage month-end close processes and inventory accounting.
• Serve as the technical accounting expert and trusted advisor to senior management maintaining current knowledge of GAAP, relevant regulations and industry trends providing guidance, planning and direction related to all accounting matters.
• Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of all inter-company transactions.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
• Interact with operational departments to gather all relevant financial data to ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting package and variance analysis.
• Communicate with key business leaders and play an active role in the monthly actuals vs. budget review meetings.
• Work closely with the Strategic Planning team and assist in the forecast and budgeting process.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and lead process improvement efforts to increase accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of month end close.
• Contribute to departments and Company on special projects.
• Manage, develop, and mentor the accounting team members.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related degree
• CPG, Retail, or Apparel industry required.
• CPA license preferred.
• Knowledge of major accounting software packages for general ledger accounting
• Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams, business leaders, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
