Position: Vice President, Actuarial Services

The Vice President, Actuarial Services will lead Monogram Health’s actuarial functions, supporting key pricing and financial decisions using the most up to date actuarial science and analytical tools, while maintaining a high level of compliance with regulations and actuarial standards. This executive will leverage the skillset and knowledge to be a leading influencer across Monogram Health.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead pricing across all market segments in which Monogram Health participates to achieve target profit margins
  • Build strong working relationships with health plan clients
  • Build an understanding of the drivers of medical and pharmacy trend in order to support efforts to lower trend and to enable projection of future trends for pricing and budgeting purposes
  • Develop appropriate estimates of unpaid claims and other relevant accruals
  • Stay apprised of general health and insurance industry and Medicaid trends and ensure knowledge is shared across peers and Senior Leadership
  • Ensure actuarial department is adequately staffed and create an environment conducive to high engagement and career growth
  • Proactively seek to continuously improve our actuarial capabilities in terms of skillsets, tools, benchmarks and technologies
  • Build strong relationships with Officers across the company and exercise effective influence on key initiatives across the enterprise
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Adhere to Monogram Health information security and privacy requirements

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in actuarial, management science, mathematics or similar and ASA/FSA (Associate/Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in the actuarial field including 7+ years of in-depth experience in health insurance including knowledge of health benefits products and funding arrangements
  • Well-versed in the identification and management of risk
  • Ability to critically approach a wide variety of operational issues and produce results through delivering analytically developed, strategic business solutions
  • Experience in building, leading, motivating, evaluating teams and complex programs. A collaborative leader; experience building consensus and influencing decisions through the development and maintenance of effective working relationships with executive management. Executive presence and ability to deliver a variety of messages to a variety of audiences including board presentations.
  • Travel required to Nashville, TN, Phoenix, AZ, and client sites as business needs require (25%)
  • Is forward-thinking, exhibits the ability to learn quickly; advocates and proactively leads change efforts; analyzes successes and failures for improvement opportunities; enjoys challenges. Experience planning and implementing change initiatives, remaining flexible to meet constantly changing and sometimes opposing demands. Supports innovation and creativity by encouraging staff to accept and resolve challenges.
