Position Summary:
Serve as Director of Financial Aid, providing leadership for the Financial Aid staff and managing Financial Aid Services with a focus on compliance with federal regulations, university policies, and student service. Ensure timely payment of all financial aid. A $5,000 sign-on bonus applies to this role.
Key Job Elements:
- Ensure compliance with university financial aid policies, understanding Title IV and Non-Title IV fund sources to assist students in developing funding plans, oversee team productivity, and provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain confidentiality of student financial information as required by FERPA and university policies.
- Monitor and track financial aid processes, ensuring timely disbursement and proper packaging for all students.
- Hold weekly meetings with financial aid staff to review progress on student aid processing.
- Review and manage weekly financial aid reports to optimize customer service and processing efficiency.
- Coordinate with other departments such as Admissions, Student Services, and Academic Operations.
- Oversee Federal Work Study programs, update job descriptions annually, and collaborate with Career Services to meet departmental goals.
- Work with the Military Benefits Department to ensure timely certification of students' VA benefits.
- Hire, train, and supervise Financial Aid Advisors, ensuring compliance and professional development.
- Participate in weekly meetings and training sessions with the Regional Director of Financial Aid.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred.
- Three to five years of experience in federal or state financial aid, or auditing at the post-secondary level.
- Minimum of five years supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of student information systems (CampusVue experience preferred).
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Fiscal and personnel management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Environment:
This position reports to the Campus President and is part of the campus Executive Leadership Team. Internal contacts include the school's executive committee and departments such as Admissions, Student Accounting, and Academic Operations. External contacts include students, parents, and auditors.
The work environment typically involves communication in person, over the phone, and via electronic means, with occasional lifting up to 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be provided for qualified individuals with disabilities.
