Job Description

The mission of Controllers is to ensure that the firm meets its financial control and reporting obligations as a global, regulated, and public financial institution. As part of the firm's second line of defense, Controllers provides critical analysis to ensure the accuracy of internal and external financial information. Additionally, Controllers plays a vital role in safeguarding the firm's assets through independent scrutiny of financial data. The team regularly engages with regulators and auditors, fostering a strong culture of control and challenge to protect the firm from reputational and other risks.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee fund administration's monthly closing process, including preparing and booking journal entries related to daily cash activity, investment activity, currency transactions, swap settings, debt payments, fund expenses, investor contributions and distributions, mark-to-market valuations, foreign currency adjustments, accruals, and other transactions.
  • Review accounts and quarterly reporting packages, including fund-level net asset values and investor capital statements for private equity funds.
  • Ensure private equity funds' financial information and disclosures comply with U.S. GAAP, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of accounting records.
  • Provide critical analysis to verify the accuracy of internal and external financial data for private equity funds.
  • Liaise extensively with other departments such as product controllers, treasury, legal, tax, regulatory, technology, market risk, and credit risk on various inquiries and projects, including new product launches, strategic workflow changes, and technology enhancements.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports, conduct management fee and cash flow analysis, and assist with investor-related financial reporting requests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (U.S. or foreign equivalent)
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in finance or accounting roles
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and asset/wealth management industry
  • Experience with private equity funds, investment company, and partnership accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong focus on internal controls and process improvements
  • Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Managerial or supervisory experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts, filtering, data validation, and scenario analysis tools
