Base pay range

$100,000.00/yr - $110,000.00/yr

The Government Relations Policy Analyst is responsible for analyzing public policies, developing strategic relationships with government entities and stakeholders, and advocating for the organization’s interests at local, state, and federal levels.

This role will need to be based in Washington, D.C.

  • Conduct thorough analysis of current and proposed government policies affecting the transportation industry, identify potential impacts, and develop strategic recommendations.
  • Track and monitor legislative activities, regulatory developments, and policy trends that may influence the transportation sector.
  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies to influence policymakers, including drafting position papers, conducting research, and participating in meetings with government officials.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including legislators, regulatory agencies, industry associations, and community organizations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders about policy issues, changes, and impacts. Prepare reports, briefings, and presentations to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Coordinate with other departments within the organization to ensure alignment of policy goals and strategies.
  • Conduct research on transportation policies, regulations, and best practices to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to government relations.
  • Attend and participate in industry conferences, workshops, and seminars to stay informed about emerging policy issues and trends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Political Science, Public Administration, Transportation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in government relations, policy analysis, or related roles.
  • Strong understanding of government processes, legislative procedures, and policy development in the transportation sector.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and policy analysis tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to building relationships.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

  • Exposure to computer screens.
  • The noise level in work environment is usually moderate.
  • Required hybrid work schedule, at least 3 days/week in office.
  • Required job duties are performed in a professional office environment.
