Your Team Responsibilities
We are seeking to expand MSCI’s Sustainability and Climate coverage team in San Francisco with a commercially driven and results-oriented individual with finance/financial services sales experience. In this role you will be responsible for maintaining existing client relationships as well as prospecting new business development for MSCI Sustainability and Climate products.
As the leading provider of Sustainability and Climate Research, Ratings and Indexes, we continue to grow our footprint with the world's largest asset managers, banks, hedge funds, pension funds and corporations.
The Sales Specialist role demands a consummate relationship builder, both internally and externally, to drive sales and achieve revenue targets. The individual will work very closely with all parts of the MSCI organization, including Client Service, Marketing, Legal, Finance, Research, and Product Management.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with a diverse set of clients across the buy and sell side.
- Identify, qualify, and convert new business opportunities, with a strong focus on pipeline generation and deal closure.
- Proactively prospect and engage with new logos, expanding MSCI’s reach in underpenetrated markets or segments.
- Educate potential clients about sustainability and climate investment, risk, and regulatory trends by leading product demos and discovery calls.
- Work with the wider client coverage group to achieve cross-segment opportunities and synergies from information sharing and collaboration.
- Communicate suggestions to improve, customize, or create new products and solutions.
- Gather and share industry trends and competitive intelligence with senior management.
- Grow, network, and attend relevant industry events.
- Experience working in institutional sales with recent experience in managing sales effort against a quantitative objective.
- Ability to maintain sales cycle and update CRM systems with accurate activity and opportunity tracking to support sales forecasting.
- A commercially minded individual with drive and capacity to manage a dynamic, fast paced environment.
- A good understanding of the sustainable finance market and how sustainability and climate factors impact the investment process.
- Innovative, entrepreneurial, client-oriented thinker with a strong consultative sales drive.
- 3-5 years of direct sales experience
- Financial Services sales experience
- Bachelor's degree required (MA or CFA designation preferred) or equivalent experience
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Demonstrated interest in Sustainability & Climate
