Advanced Electrical Engineer
Annapolis Junction, MD
Participate in electrical requirements analysis and definition, functional analysis, design, integration, and verification of electrical components, equipment, and systems. Projects include technologies for application in free-space optical (FSO) and fiber optic communications, photonic integrated circuits, active and passive optical remote sensing, and imaging.

Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field. Also requires 5 years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.

Clearance Requirements

Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Role and Position Objectives
  • Interact with optical, mechanical, and software design teams to assist in the overall development of systems.
  • Plan and lead electrical engineering root cause analysis for electrical issues.
  • Conduct experimental tests and evaluate results to formulate and implement solutions to issues.
  • Contribute to the generation and maintenance of documentation.
  • Specify, select, and qualify active and passive components.
  • Develop and benchmark system performance models.
  • Develop and implement test procedures, and evaluate and select appropriate test instrumentation.
What Sets You Apart
  • Proven mixed signal circuit design and analysis skills. HyperLynx, Cadence, or LTspice preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering computer-aided design (CAD) tools. Xpedition or Allegro preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical assembly and test, communications-related tools (BERT, sampling oscilloscope, OSA).
  • High speed and mixed-signal RF design experience (A/D, D/A, opamp). Datarates 3 Gbps and above preferred.
  • Panel and power electronics design experience. SMPS, power entry modules, and transient suppression preferred.
  • Familiarity with software development. C, Matlab, VHDL, Python preferred.
  • Experience with R&D rapid turnaround including concept, design, modeling, prototype, vendor interface, and test.
  • Experience leading small teams, interacting with customers, and presenting technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Motivated to drive innovation around design architectures, assembly, component selection, and electronics design.

Workplace Options

This position can be fully on-site, or Hybrid/Flex. While on-site, you will be a part of the Annapolis Junction, MD team.
