WSP is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer (Medium Voltage) to work across various offices including Denver, CO; San Diego, CA; Tacoma, WA; Orlando, FL; San Antonio, TX; Dallas, TX; New York City, NY; Washington, DC; Richmond, VA; or Virginia Beach, VA. Be involved in projects with our Federal Property and Buildings Team and contribute to a growing organization that meets client objectives and solves challenges.
Your Impact
- Provide guidance on data collection, analysis, and design processes relating to physical sites, blueprints, GIS data, substation components, equipment specifications, and standards such as NEC, IEEE, NESC, ANSI, NCEC, and NERC.
- Coordinate, review, and approve electrical infrastructure plans for projects of varying complexity, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
- Apply advanced electrical engineering techniques to improve project phases from concept to operation.
- Design and review electrical systems including single line diagrams, wiring, substations, grounding, and lightning protection, in accordance with standards and permits.
- Plan for future-ready solutions involving equipment sizing, cabling, panel design, and safety considerations.
- Review calculations for loads, equipment sizing, short circuits, protective devices, and switchyard layouts.
- Develop plans, specifications, cost estimates, and safety plans, coordinating with stakeholders.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of relevant experience with federal projects in power, lighting, and distribution.
- Knowledge of infrastructure design within the US and internationally.
- Professional Engineer license.
- Ability to pass security background checks and US citizenship.
- Proficiency with electrical engineering principles, smart building technologies, and relevant software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP).
- Experience with electrical infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
- Strong communication, leadership, and technical skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active US Government Secret Security Clearance.
- Experience managing large projects.
- Certifications such as LEED AP or PMP.
WSP offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, retirement, paid leave, and more. Salary range: $103,500 - $175,230, with specific ranges for Colorado. WSP is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US.
