We are well positioned in the marketplace and on a trajectory to expand our geographic services.

MNS is hiring a Resident Engineer (Sr. Project Engineer) to serve as the Owner’s professional representative on bridge and roadway construction projects, ensuring projects are built according to contract documents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with technical field inspectors and project team to meet project goals.
  • Perform construction engineering for roadways and bridges.
  • Manage project Quality Control and Assurance.
  • Supervise professional and technical staff and handle contract administration.
  • Review change orders, shop drawings, materials testing, and surveying.
  • Conduct weekly project meetings and oversee utility coordination.
  • Arrange for materials testing, surveying, grade verification, and payment requests.
  • Ensure EEO/labor compliance.
  • Prepare progress and final documentation for State and Federal Highway Administration.
  • Handle complex projects or multiple moderate projects.
  • Review and prepare project documents for conformity and quality.
  • Support upper management as a technical advisor.
  • Supervise staff and ensure project profitability.
  • Maintain scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Prepare proposals for professional services.
  • Resolve issues from inspection or contract administration.
  • Assist in recruitment and performance evaluations.
  • Act as the primary contact with clients and agencies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Education, Licensure, or Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • California registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.
  • Valid California Class C driver’s license with an acceptable record.

Minimum Experience

  • 8+ years of construction contract management experience related to roadway and/or bridge projects.
  • Knowledge of CALTRANS and local agency projects; experience with federally funded project documentation is a plus.

  • Ability to interact effectively with staff and clients.
  • Negotiation skills for change orders.
  • Effective personnel management skills.
