The Director of Construction will lead all field operations, construction management, and procurement activities across our commercial solar projects. This role requires an experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable managing multiple project schedules, and brings a hands-on leadership style. The ideal candidate is a licensed Master Electrician (or equivalent) who understands both the technical and strategic elements of solar construction. The salary range for this role is $130-$160,000/year + a bonus structure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all phases of construction from pre-construction through project close-out across multiple concurrent commercial solar projects.
  • Manage and coordinate project teams, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with the highest standards of safety and quality.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
  • Lead procurement strategy: develop vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team during pre-construction, providing input on design, constructability, and budgets.
  • Serve as the technical authority on job sites; able to troubleshoot issues and provide direction as needed.
  • Pull permits as a licensed Master Electrician (preferred).
  • Track job costs and manage change orders in collaboration with project managers.
  • Foster a safety-first culture across all field operations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction management, with a strong focus on commercial solar projects.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and solar construction best practices.
  • Licensed Master Electrician (preferred); ability to pull electrical permits in Illinois a major plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple construction schedules simultaneously.
  • Extensive procurement experience with an established network of vendors and suppliers.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in construction management tools (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar).
