Field Application Engineer

Location: Hybrid | Mountain View, CA (3 days onsite per week)

Salary Range: $147,000 - $180,000 per annum + equity options

About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen with a fast-growing, global leader in next-generation connectivity. This organization specializes in enabling direct-to-device communication via existing satellite infrastructure, transforming how smartphones and IoT devices stay connected anywhere in the world.

They are seeking a Field Application Engineer to join their technical team in Mountain View, CA. This role is perfect for individuals with deep expertise in telecommunications and IoT, eager to work at the cutting edge of satellite and cellular technologies.

The Role

As a Field Application Engineer, you will serve as a key technical interface between partners, customers, and internal teams . Your primary focus will be to facilitate the integration of IoT and consumer devices onto the network , ensuring seamless operation and efficient commercialization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with OEMs, chipset, and module manufacturers on device integration and certification.
• Lead the commercialization and certification process for IoT devices, ensuring regulatory and industry compliance.
• Develop and deliver training programs for partners, customers, and internal teams on device operations.
• Create and maintain documentation, processes, and tools to streamline device onboarding and SIM provisioning.
• Act as a technical advocate and thought leader , presenting the capabilities of the network to external audiences.
• Gather and incorporate customer feedback to improve solutions and services.
• Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to support technical collateral.

What You’ll Bring

• 7-10 years’ experience in telecommunications, chipset, or IoT module industries.
• Strong understanding of LTE, VoLTE, SMS call flows , and PCAP trace analysis.
• Solid grasp of network protocols and architecture (HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP, vRAN/ORAN, Core).
• Practical experience with IoT device interfaces, RF, and timing configurations .
• Programming proficiency in Python, C, Java, and Shell .
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
