Job Title: Director of Mechanical Engineering – NPI & Product Realization
Imagen Energy is engineering the future of compact, ultra-high-power EV charging. As part of a global technology leader, we combine the agility of a focused team with the strength of enterprise resources to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy. We are building the next generation of scalable, grid-integrated charging platforms — and we’re looking for a seasoned hardware leader to help us deliver.
The Opportunity
As Director of Mechanical Engineering – NPI & Product Realization, you will lead the mechanical design and execution of our flagship charging platform. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on bringing hardware from concept through design, supplier engagement, and production launch.
You will be responsible for driving mechanical product definition, ensuring design-for-manufacturing readiness, and building out the design infrastructure that supports a successful product ramp. Working closely with engineering leadership, suppliers, and cross-functional teams, you will shape both the product and the process that delivers it.
What You Will Do
* Lead Mechanical Development: Drive architecture, feasibility, design execution, and validation across the entire product lifecycle.
* Execute NPI Strategy: Manage design release and transition to manufacturing. Own DFM/DFA, DFMEA, supplier design reviews, and production readiness.
* Engage Suppliers: Collaborate with contract manufacturers and vendors to ensure build feasibility, tooling quality, and early production success.
* Establish Technical Standards: Set the bar for design reviews, CAD quality, tolerance control, and simulation-informed development.
* Mentor and Build the Team: Guide mechanical engineers and CAD designers. Define scalable design processes, documentation standards, and BOM integrity.
* Drive Integration: Partner with electrical, firmware, and program management teams to ensure full product cohesion and manufacturability.
What You Bring
* 10–20 years of mechanical engineering experience developing high-performance hardware products, preferably in EV, energy systems, or aerospace.
* Demonstrated success leading products through design, validation, and production launch.
* Strategic command of mechanical architecture, thermal/structural design, and simulation-driven development, with expert-level execution skills in SolidWorks.
* Deep understanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal, castings, machining, and plastics.
* Strong experience with PLM systems, BOM management, and documentation control.
* A collaborative mindset with the ability to lead across functions and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Bonus: Experience with high-voltage components, inverters, cooling systems, or DC fast charging hardware.
* Take technical leadership of a product designed to scale nationally and globally.
* Work alongside top engineers in a highly focused, execution-driven environment.
* See your work go from design to build with real momentum and real customers.
* Help define not just the product — but how we build, release, and scale it.
If you’re ready to lead with clarity, deliver with precision, and help shape the future of charging infrastructure — we want to hear from you.
