Location: San Jose, CA
Ayar Labs is seeking a Senior Electronic Hardware Design Engineer to help us revolutionize photonic interconnects for high performance computing. The exceptional candidate will be highly motivated and energetic, bringing their experience in hardware design engineering to the electro-optic domain. This role will be responsible for developing hardware for laser modules and laser validation. The candidate does not need prior experience in photonics but should display the propensity to learn and grow. Ayar Labs is a highly collaborative environment; the successful candidate will be organized and communicative.
Essential Functions

  • Design printed circuit boards to support electro-optic system development
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams to develop mechanical and electrical requirements
  • Performing measurements to characterize electrical and electro-optic circuitry
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 2-5 years industry experience
  • Strong fundamental circuit and EM background
  • Strong understanding of PCB Design tools (Altium)
  • Strong understanding of PCB library management
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as: Oscilloscope, VNA, Signal Analyzer
  • Basic programming ability (Python, C)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with critical high-speed SerDes blocks
  • Familiarity with electro-optics / photonics
  • Familiarity with switching regulator fundamentals
  • Basic firmware development (bare-metal / RTOS)
  • Basic CAD tool experience (Solidworks, Fusion)
Salary Range: $150,000 - $192,000
