Senior PCB Layout Engineer
Job Purpose:
As part of the systems design team, the candidate will perform multilayer, controlled-impedance printed circuit boards layout and analysis for leading-edge power, digital, and RF electronics for medical, high-performance, automotive, and aerospace applications.
Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform PCB layouts in PCB layout tools to meet critical design and signal integrity constraints.
- Work closely with hardware design, simulation, and manufacturing engineers to define and implement PCB routing and manufacturability constraints.
- Collaborate with PCB fabrication companies to ensure impedance design targets are met while meeting manufacturability constraints for high-volume production.
- Generate and revise all engineering documentation required to fabricate the PCB designs, including ECOs, gerber databases, and fab drawings.
Experience:
- Previous high-speed and high-density interconnect layout experience involving processors, DDR3/4 memory, and high-speed serial interfaces such as PCIe and Ethernet is required.
- Detailed understanding of high-speed digital PCB routing constraints.
- Understanding of multilayer PCB construction.
- Familiarity with constraints-driven PCB layout methodology.
- Experience with advanced PCB manufacturing techniques such as blind vias and microvias.
- Hands-on knowledge of current PCB layout tools including Mentor Expedition, Cadence Allegro, and Altium.
- Experience using Mentor Hyperlynx or similar tools for pre- and post-route Signal Integrity & Power Integrity simulations.
- Solid mechanical drafting skills, experienced with AutoCAD for 2D mechanical drawings.
- Experience with schematic capture tools such as OrCAD, Cadence Concept, or Mentor.
- Experience with Rigid Flex design is a plus.
- Experience with CAM tools such as Valor or CAM350 is a plus.
- Experience with high-reliability, aerospace, and/or IPC Class 3 designs is a plus.
- Knowledge of DFM, DFA, and DFT is desirable.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Project.
- Must be detail-oriented with proven organizational, analytical, and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Education:
- BSEE, BSEET degree, or equivalent.
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in high-speed PCB layout.
Salary Range (annual): $98,000 - $120,000
