A day in the life

As the VP, Data Center Preconstruction , you will lead strategic planning and execution of pre-construction activities for data center projects. This role requires expertise in design, construction, procurement, scheduling, contracting, and cost management to ensure seamless project execution from inception to construction. You will collaborate with stakeholders to develop standardized processes, drive efficiencies, and align with business objectives.

The role demands energy, passion, an outgoing personality, technical competence, and integrity. Daily interactions will involve Prologis data center, development, and deployment teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive pre-construction strategy aligned with organizational goals, budget, and timelines.
  • Lead feasibility studies, site evaluations, and risk assessments to optimize project planning.
  • Oversee design development, ensuring alignment with operational needs, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability standards.
  • Establish and refine standardized pre-construction processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to drive project success.
  • Serve as the escalation point for pre-construction issues with OFCI vendors and regulatory bodies, resolving challenges proactively.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee cost estimation, budgeting, procurement, and program strategies to optimize financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, building codes, and environmental and safety standards.
  • Work with supply chain and legal teams to establish efficient contracting structures.
  • Provide executive reports on project forecasts, risks, and KPIs.

Building blocks for success

Required:

  • 10+ years in construction, design, or engineering, focusing on pre-construction and large-scale data center projects.
  • Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
  • Experience in data center design and construction, including greenfield and retrofit projects.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred:

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related fields.
  • Professional licensure (e.g., PE, Registered Architect) preferred.
  • Strong commercial acumen in cost estimation, procurement, and contracts.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, building codes, and sustainability standards in data centers.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Google Earth, ACAD viewer, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Leadership skills to guide multidisciplinary teams.
  • Self-motivated with multitasking and prioritization abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Customer-focused attitude emphasizing efficiency and effectiveness.

Salary range: $192,000 - $264,000, commensurate with experience and location. Role eligible for commission. #LI-KR1
