Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to manage a laboratory conducting translational human immunology research, focusing primarily on malaria and on congenital CMV infection. The candidate will conduct hypothesis-driven immunology research under the mentorship of the PI, and will also help to manage day-to-day operations of the lab, including ordering of supplies and equipment, and coordination of collaborations between our lab and others, including our UCSF-affiliated field lab in Uganda. Job Summary

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $30.89 - $49.68 (Hourly Rate).

The Division of Experimental Medicine is a translational, wet lab research unit comprised of 8 immunological research groups consisting of 10 faculty members and 65+ staff, trainees, and post-docs. Our labs use cutting edge technologies to answer clinically important questions about host-pathogen interactions across globally devastating infectious diseases, including HIV, Malaria, SARS-CoV-2, and Tuberculosis.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS with a degree in a related science and two or more years of recent, directly related work experience, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position and demonstrating technical expertise in these areas; and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 2+ years of experience in laboratory-based scientific research
  • Knowledge of immunology laboratory techniques such as: cell culture, multiparameter flow cytometry, and PCR
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision as well as work well with team
  • Ability to adapt and use good judgment when making decisions
  • Ability to work with and train staff of wide range of educational backgrounds
  • Ability to prioritize work and delegate responsibility and tasks appropriately
  • Excellent organizational and communications skills, both oral and written
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with R programming
  • Experience with STATA
  • Experience with single cell sequencing technologies and data analysis
  • Spectral flow cytometry experience
