The New York City Employees’ Retirement System seeks to hire an Agency Attorney Level 1 who will work on a variety of tasks within the Legal Division.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing and validating legal documents such as domestic relations orders, trusts, powers of attorney, guardianship papers, letters of administration, and letters testamentary.
- Communicating with NYCERS clients regarding legal documents via written correspondence and phone.
- Providing legal research and support to litigating attorneys, reviewing litigation documents.
- Assessing litigation risks and advising supervisors on actions.
- Researching pension administration matters.
- Drafting correspondence and memoranda for internal and external audiences.
- Responding to information requests from other NYCERS divisions.
- Drafting contracts and amendments in accordance with procurement rules.
- Reviewing End User License Agreements (EULAs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for compliance with NYC procurement policies.
Qualifications
- Admission to the New York State Bar.
- At least one year of legal experience after bar admission, or six months of service as an Agency Attorney Intern.
- Must remain in good standing with the NY State Bar.
Preferred Skills
- Excellent legal writing and document review skills.
- Knowledge of city government, pension laws, and procurement rules.
- Ability to adapt to change and work collaboratively.
Additional Information

Salary range: $71,163 – $108,641 annually.
