Job Summary
Serves as the primary legal advisor for real estate and construction matters, handling contract negotiation, drafting, and approval. Provides legal counsel to Cleveland State University (CSU), leadership on risk management, compliance, and strategic issues. Advises on a wide range of legal topics, including student privacy, procurement, ethics, insurance, international education, and intellectual property. Supports campus safety through legal guidance on emergency operations and compliance e.g., CLERY Act. Participates in policy development and internal and external hearings and collaborates with outside counsel on litigation. Advises stakeholders on legal matters and manages legal workflow, projects, and committee outcomes. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• J.D. or LL.B. from an accredited law school.
• Five (5) years of professional legal experience in an institution of higher learning, public agency or a large, complex organization.
• Member in good standing of the Ohio State Bar or licensure and/or in good standing in another state on the date of initial employment and must obtain a license to practice law in Ohio within six months of employment.
• Eligibility for appointment as Assistant Attorney General by the Ohio Attorney General.
