The Assistant General Counsel, Merchandise - Supply Chain , is part of the Legal Department’s Merchandise, Store Operations, and Supply Chain Law Group whose primary responsibility is providing legal support to the Dollar Tree Supply Chain department. This position involves working closely with the Supply Chain and Customs teams to provide legal advice, training and business solutions for various supply chain issues, including regulatory compliance, transportation contracts and disputes, governmental investigations and inquiries, and the distribution of products. The position works daily with internal business partners, outside counsel, vendors, and governmental agencies on a wide variety of legal regulatory and supply chain issues.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

• Legal advisor for the company’s Supply Chain department for various matters, including:
• General legal advice
• Advisor on laws and regulations affecting supply chain, including product storage and distribution and compliance programs.
• Advisor and negotiator for certain agreements impacting the supply chain. d) Advisor for various commercial disputes, including those related to product storage, product delivery, payment disputes, and service disputes.
• Legal advisor to the company’s Customs team for various matters, including:
• Product standards, regulation, testing and analysis
• Product specification and labeling
• Pre and post-production product regulatory matters at all administrative levels
  
  

to assure compliance with Federal, State and local laws

• Manage supply chain related investigations and inquiries by various governmental regarding the safety and compliance of the supply chain network.
• Assist in product recalls and withdrawals from a supply chain perspective.
• Train Supply Chain team on various merchandising legal issues.
  
  

Position Requirements:
Office work environment, 40+ work hours per week
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Juris Doctorate
Experience: 7-10 years legal background. Bar membership in good standing with at least one state and eligible to be issued a Virginia Corporate Counsel Certificate, if not a member of the VA Bar. Retail experience preferred.
Ability to travel 20%

Computer Skills:
Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office desktop applications, inclusive of Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Exposure to web-based applications including web forms, portals and workflow tools.
