The Scientist II, Life Sciences Research will lead research projects for early-stage biopharmaceutical partners. This role involves performing complex computational analyses and providing insights to guide decision-making for biopharma clients. The ideal candidate will have strong genomic analytical skills and be able to communicate scientific findings effectively to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute complex translational research projects combining molecular and clinical data to derive insights for biopharma partners.
- Present scientific findings clearly to diverse external stakeholders.
- Stay current with industry trends and apply new knowledge to enhance research methodologies.
Qualifications
- PhD in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Biostatistics, Genetic, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology) or Molecular Biology/Immunology with strong computational experience; or MSc with 4+ years industry experience.
- Proficiency in R (including Rmd or RShiny preferred).
- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex information.
Preferred Skills and Background
- Understanding of molecular data and AI in drug discovery; experience with multi-modal clinical and omics data.
- Experience with large transcriptome and NGS datasets.
- Client-facing or consulting experience is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with R package development and relevant tools (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, etc.).
- Strong publication record.
Salary ranges vary by location: California $100,000 - $150,000; Illinois $90,000 - $135,000. Tempus offers comprehensive benefits. Remote roles in Los Angeles are considered, with considerations regarding legal and ethical standards related to background checks.
