Candidates must reside within a 100-mile radius. Epic EMR proficiency is required; experience must be within the last two years. No 48-hour guarantees or blocked scheduling requests are allowed. No more than five days of requested time off (RTO) is permitted. Candidates must work two out of three holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's. This unit handles Level 3 trauma, STEMI, and stroke cases, with transfers for specialized stroke intervention. Candidates must have at least two years of emergency room experience with trauma level I and II accumulated over the past three years. If only level III trauma or lower experience is present, the application will not be accepted. The emergency room has 52 beds and four trauma bays. There are six fast track beds available. The triage area includes two quick-look areas using the ESI (Emergency Severity Index). Emergency holds are intermixed within the emergency room. No separate seclusion rooms are available for psychiatric patients. Security is present in-house 24/7. The emergency room treats an average of 200 patients daily. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 for medical and 1:6 for fast track patients. Common diagnoses include a broad range of emergency needs. Common drips include ICU medications for hold patients, with assistance from ICU staff when available. Diverse staffing includes MDs and mid-level providers, as well as pediatric board-certified professionals on shift. There is no charge nurse on each shift; a House Supervisor is available for assistance if needed. Emergency department technicians with two years or more of experience are on every shift to assist with EKGs, vitals, blood draws, and splinting. Physical Care Assistants with less than two years of experience perform similar duties. Respiratory therapy is available in-house 24/7, specializing in ABGs, nebulizer treatments, ventilation, and CPAP. The emergency room has dedicated CT and X-ray facilities, with a transport team available for critical patients. Emergency department techs or registered nurses are responsible for drawing labs. Varied shift start times are available. Four weekend shifts are required over a four-week block. Typically, two out of five holiday shifts are required, which includes holiday eves. Floating is based on a shared schedule with nearby facilities, typically scheduled in advance with infrequent last-minute changes. Scrub color is navy blue. Orientation includes one day of basic training and one day of clinical training. Cancellation policies apply for hours equivalent to guaranteed weekly assignment hours, adjusted for longer assignments. Charting is done using the EPIC system.
