POSITION DETAILS: Schedule: Rotating, 8 hour shifts FTE: Per Diem, hours will depend on the needs of the department JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist by performing certain technical functions associated with drug distribution in accordance with specific provisions, standards, and Pharmacy Business and Professions Code. Dependent upon assignment, the principal areas of drug distribution may include unit dose, intravenous and oral drug compounding, TPN preparation, inventory control, automated dispensing equipment and related duties, as required. Customer service, teamwork and communication are important job functions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, GED or foreign equivalent One year of experience Registered CA Pharmacy Technician Knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology, metric and apothecary measures Knowledge of pharmacy ethics, laws, and accountability and control of prescriptions and controlled drugs Didactic and practical IV compounding experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a pediatric hospital setting Three years of experience Experience with automated dispensing machines and barcode technology EOE including disability/vet
