Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate Lab Specialist - Clinical Lab Scientist to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 5x8 Days at a leading $facility_type$ in Eureka, CA. Key Responsibilities:
Perform generalist laboratory testing including hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, serology, and limited microbiology Conduct blood bank procedures with recent blood bank experience required Maintain current CLS and California state licensure Utilize Epic charting system for documentation and results reporting Complete required pre-start and annual training modules and compliance documentation Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) Provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within comparable specialty/setting Float between sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as needed Perform quality assurance and control procedures for laboratory testing Handle specimen collection, accessioning, and pipetting procedures Conduct manual and automated laboratory procedures including CBC, differential counts, and coagulation studies Perform immunoassay testing including cardiac enzymes, hormone/thyroid panels, and tumor markers Execute urinalysis procedures including microscopic examination and crystal identification Maintain proficiency in rapid test kits and therapeutic drug monitoring Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules Use facility-provided communication devices when required for assignment duties
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in CA
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
