Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Dialysis Registered Nurse to join our team. This role involves providing comprehensive care to a complex acute patient population requiring hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and apheresis treatments in a dynamic hospital setting.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
Licensure:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of recent Dialysis nursing experience.
Certifications:
BLS (Required); ACLS (Highly Preferred).
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with the Epic electronic medical record system is required.
Floating:
Must be willing to float to other Cone Health campuses as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Perform the initiation, monitoring, and conclusion of hemodialysis treatments, expertly cannulating AV fistulas and grafts and managing tunneled catheters.
Operate, manage, and troubleshoot specialized dialysis equipment, including Tablo Dialysis machines and Spectra Optia apheresis devices.
Monitor patient status throughout treatment, interpreting vital signs and managing emergent complications such as hypotension, hemolysis, and electrolyte imbalances.
Administer medications, including anticoagulants, and blood products during dialysis procedures as prescribed.
Provide comprehensive patient education on dialysis procedures, post-treatment access care, and disease management.
Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including technicians, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

1:2 (Nurse to Patient) Patient Age Group:
Adults and Geriatrics.
Typical Diagnoses:
End-stage renal disease (ESRD), acute kidney injury (AKI), metabolic imbalances, and dialysis access complications.
Care Environment:
A modern unit featuring 9 treatment bays and an isolation room, fully equipped with telemetry monitoring. Care is also provided at the bedside for critically ill patients in the ICU.
