The MNIT MDA and BAH teams support technology critical to ensuring food supply integrity and safety, livestock health, and supporting a vibrant agricultural economy for Minnesota.

This position exists to provide technical expertise in the development and operation of new and existing custom software applications within the Department of Agriculture (MDA). Responsibilities include supporting the MNIT development team in the maintenance, administration, and enhancement of the Salesforce Customer Relationship Management system and the associated system modernization, a cloud hosted, serverless platform, custom built application based on modern development techniques, methodologies, and technologies for the Department. This position also includes additional non-salesforce architecture design, development and execution as needed and prioritized by the MDA and MNIT leadership.
As a senior-level expert, the developer will provide guidance in application design and architecture, ensuring all technical aspects adhere to established standards and protocols. The incumbent will also research emerging technologies and create plans for implementing innovative solutions across the Department of Agriculture (MDA). Serves as a backup to other staff during absences for enterprise and legacy application support.
** This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last for up to two (2) years.
This position requires an employee to be onsite at 625 Robert Street N. Saint Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location.

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in Salesforce development.
Experience must include:
Salesforce platform development and customization.
Apex classes, triggers, Visualforce pages, and Lighting components.
Experience working with SQL data stores or SOQL within Salesforce.
Experience working with SQL databases and data integration within Salesforce.
Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, including Logic Apps and Jave integration.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master's degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor's degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
Salesforce certifications (e.g., Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I/II, Administrator)
Experience with CI/CD processes in Salesforce deployments
Knowledge of REST/SOAP APIs and integration patterns
Experience with issue tracking, code versioning, and integrated development environments.
Experience with Confluence, Jira, Agile Place.
Experience with Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
