Overview
Mountain Operations Dispatch plays a critical role in the coordination and communication of daily operations across Big Sky Resort's mountain departments, including Ski Patrol, Lift Maintenance, Lift Operations, Grooming, and Snowmaking. Working under the direction of the Patrol Director, the dispatcher is often the first point of contact for both emergency and non-emergency calls. Success in this role requires excellent communication skills, a calm demeanor under pressure, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. EMT certification is not required for this position.
Responsibilities
Coordinate communication between all Mountain Operations departments via two-way radio and phone Monitor and relay lift status updates (openings, closures, holds) to relevant resort departments Announce daily travel plans and terrain status updates for Mountain Operations Receive reports of guest injuries and dispatch appropriate Ski Patrol response Assist in coordinating guest transport during incidents and emergencies Maintain detailed and accurate records of operational activity using resort software Answer phones and radios professionally, routing calls appropriately Maintain familiarity with resort terrain, procedures, and emergency protocols Exhibit empathy and professionalism when speaking with guests or team members in distress Support daily and ongoing operations with clear and timely communication Qualifications
Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills Professional, calm, and kind demeanor in high-pressure situations Exceptional guest service orientation Strong multitasking abilities, including managing multiple incidents simultaneously Ability to prioritize tasks based on rapidly changing information Comfortable using two-way radios, telephones, and computer systems Accurate and efficient typing and data entry skills Familiarity with Big Sky Resort operations is preferred All full time seasonal team member can enjoy the following benefits:
