Quantum Space is seeking a hands-on and strategic Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations during an exciting phase of growth. As our company scales operations, the Controller will be responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, supporting strategic decision-making, and implementing scalable processes. This role offers a unique opportunity to join a dynamic space startup at a pivotal stage, with visibility into government contracting, commercial space initiatives, and venture-backed expansion. Where You'll Make an Impact
Lead all accounting operations, including GL, AP/AR, payroll, revenue recognition, and monthly close. Establish and maintain financial controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy. Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, management reports, and board reporting packages. Oversee and manage audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GAAP, DCAA for government contracts). Implement and manage project-based accounting to track financial performance against budgeted spend across internal initiatives and customer contracts, partnering closely with program and operations teams. Manage vendor relationships (e.g., banks, auditors, tax advisors) and internal systems (e.g., accounting software). Build and manage a small but growing finance/accounting team as the company scales. Support fundraising processes and investor due diligence with clean and reliable financial data. What It Takes
CPA required. 8+ years of relevant experience, including early-stage or high-growth company experience. Deep understanding of GAAP and experience managing audits. Prior experience supporting government contracts and understanding of FAR/DCAA a strong plus. Proficient with accounting systems and Excel; Deltek experience preferred. Highly detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and integrity. Ability to operate at both a strategic and tactical level in a lean environment. What You'll Get
