Survey Crew Chief Opportunity

As a Survey Crew Chief, you will work under the direct supervision of a Professional Surveyor and other industry experts. You will be given autonomy to produce detailed, high-quality drawings and reports in accordance with company standards and methodologies, technical guidelines and client needs. You will gain valuable experience working on projects within the land development, energy, industrial and infrastructure markets. Responsibilities: - You will be exposed to several cutting-edge technologies, including UAV/drone, GPS, robotic total stations and laser scanning to produce field data which will be used to complete technical drawings and specifications. - Prepare detailed reports summarizing your complex field observations, and sophisticated analysis of on-site surveys. - Work alongside field staff and senior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. - Use your problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex construction challenges. - Review and understand SME safety standards and procedures to perform fieldwork. - Creating and maintaining a safe working environment for you and others. - Understand and operate surveying levels, conventional total stations and robotic instruments, GNSS receivers, ability to work with collecting 3D scanning information a plus. - Provide written field notes to record site details and non-digital measurement information. - Interpret survey deeds and boundary maps, perform survey boundary computations, and understand field evidence as it relates to boundary surveying. - Perform topographic surveys and utility investigations. - Interpret design plans and perform construction staking/layout. - Perform basic survey calculations on data collectors and tablets. - Knowledge of math, geometry and trigonometry. - Follow SME survey standards for conducting a variety of surveys, performing checks and meeting proper accuracy of field measurements for each project. - Communicate with other field members and office personnel to complete tasks. Lead, motivate and train crew/staff members and office personnel to complete tasks. - Learn, motivate and train crew/staff members on proper field procedures. - Communicate in a professional manner with client, contractor, etc. Requirements: Has competency using computer operating systems and MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). Excellent verbal and written communications skills to effectively interact with clients, team members, and supervisors, conveying technical information clearly. Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, manage workloads, maintain accurate and detailed record-keeping skills, documenting field observations, safety concerns, and problem resolutions. Effective interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and team members, fostering positive working relationships, customer-centric approach to provide excellent service to clients, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed promptly and professionally. Must be able to understand and adapt to change and react productively to frequent interruptions and changing conditions. Basic construction competencies including ability to determine location from surface features and landmarks by interpretation from surveys, road maps, aerial photos, topographic maps, and geologic maps; understanding construction stakes set by others, and color markings of utility companies. Has a general aptitude for identifying and resolving complex technical pro
