Ride Maintenance Mechanic
The Ride Maintenance Mechanic performs inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and annual rehabilitation of a variety of different amusement rides and attractions. Areas of responsibility include maintenance of gearboxes, chains, sprockets, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, wire rope, hoists, brakes, pumps, and large bearings. Climbing and working safely at height is an essential part of this job. Responsibilities include performing daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and other required inspections of amusement rides and related equipment as assigned; taking corrective actions as issues are identified. Inspections are visual as well as auditory. Scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance, inspecting, repairing and testing amusement rides and related equipment may include repair or replacement of major components such as hydraulic cylinders, gears, chains, sprockets, pneumatic cylinders, hoses, brakes, clutches, wheels, bearings, gearboxes, springs, or a wide variety of other mechanical devices. Trouble shooting a variety of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems and taking appropriate corrective actions. Following all repair procedures and maintaining accurate documentation of all repairs. Maintaining all assigned equipment in a safe and ready condition according to all applicable codes, laws, rules, company policies, and best practices. Performing a variety of other tasks depending on experience including welding and fabrication; setting up and operating lathe, mill, krill press, grinder and other metal working equipment. Reading, understanding and applying information from manufacturer's manuals for service, repair and or component replacement. Accurately reading blueprints. Providing guest service according to Michigan's Adventure standards. Maintaining cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performing all duties in compliance with Michigan's Adventure Safety guidelines and requirements. Meeting scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs. Meeting Michigan's Adventure's attendance requirements. Adhering to Michigan's Adventure's Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards. Qualifications: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age. 2 to 4 years of verifiable experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in an industrial or amusement setting. Working knowledge of basic mechanical principles. Familiarity with common types of bearings, bushings, couplers, shafting and similar power transmission components. Demonstrable knowledge of the fundamental principles of either pneumatic systems or hydraulic systems; preferably both. Ability to work cooperatively with others. Ability to work safely and effectively while elevated on ladders, platforms, or other structures at heights up to 300 feet above ground. Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs. Ability to pass a mandatory drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law. Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years or age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
