Lease Manager
The Lease Manager leads the oversight and execution of Cavender's lease portfolio, ensuring strategic alignment, financial accuracy, and compliance across all leased and owned retail, warehouse, and office locations. This role manages lease operations, partners with cross-functional teams including Accounting, Real Estate, Legal, and Construction, and provides senior leadership with insights and analysis for decision-making. Reporting to the Director of Accounting and Controls and working closely with the Head of Real Estate, the Lease Manager is a key contributor to property planning, budgeting, and risk mitigation related to leasing. Duties and Responsibilities Support the "Cavender's Culture" and drive our Mission, Vision, and Values Manage the lease lifecycle for over 200 properties, including new leases, renewals, amendments, and terminations Supervise lease administration activities including financial reconciliation, reporting, and compliance across all lease obligations Review and approve lease-related disbursements such as base rent, CAM, tax, insurance, and percentage rent Serve as a subject matter expert on commercial lease terms, ensuring proper interpretation and execution Oversee the maintenance of lease data in systems such as SAP and lease management platforms Coordinate and lead monthly lease forecasting and budgeting processes in collaboration with Finance and Real Estate teams Monitor key financial and operational terms in lease agreements, flagging and planning for escalations, expirations, and renewal options Provide financial analysis and executive reporting on lease costs, projections, and occupancy trends to senior leadership and the Real Estate Committee Partner with Construction and Real Estate on lease negotiations and site selection by providing financial modeling and risk assessments Review and submit tenant improvement reimbursements and ensure alignment with lease terms Support audit and compliance efforts related to leases, including preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and financial disclosures Ensure proper recording of lease-related accruals and deferrals in accordance with GAAP and internal accounting policies Manage internal lease tracking systems and schedules with attention to accuracy and deadlines Lead continuous improvement initiatives in lease operations, automation, and reporting Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or related field required Minimum 6 years of experience in lease administration, real estate finance, or commercial property management, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role Strong understanding of lease accounting, commercial real estate terms, and financial reporting standards Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (SAP preferred) Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and improve operational processes Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact with legal counsel, landlords, brokers, and internal stakeholders High attention to detail and organizational skills Preferred Skills Experience overseeing large retail or multi-site property portfolios Advanced understanding of CAM reconciliation, percentage rent, and escalation clauses Knowledge of lease abstraction tools and real estate management platforms Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes in a retail environment Cavander's is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
