FOOD SERVICE MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Food Service Manager oversees the preparation and serving of food, maintaining an orderly and safe atmosphere in the cafeteria, and manages the cleaning of kitchen supplies after lunches conclude.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education/Certification ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire). Required Experience
Successful prior experience working as a lunch or food service aide, preferably in a school district or with children. Ability to provide own transportation. Preferred Experience
Previous Food Manager experience RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Oversee day-to-day cafeteria operations, ensuring meals are served on time and in compliance with USDA Child Nutrition Program regulations. Maintain accurate production records, temperature logs, and other required documentation. Supervise, train, and schedule food service staff to foster a positive and efficient work environment. Ensure kitchen and serving areas meet health, safety, and sanitation standards. Manages Food Service Assistants throughout the day to ensure timely and orderly completion of tasks and responsibilities. Manage food and supply inventory, including tracking usage, rotating stock, and minimizing waste. Place food and supply orders, verify deliveries, and resolve discrepancies with vendors. Assists in supervising students in the cafeteria during mealtime. Assists in making sure that tables and surrounding areas are clean. Assists students with orderly food purchases, distribution of food, disposal of food waste, and return of trays and utensils. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Use computer network systems and software applications as needed. Organize and coordinate work. Develop and implement projects. Effective and respectful verbal and written communication skills. Communicate effectively with students and parents. Organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints. Engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. Demonstrate exemplary attendance and punctuality.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS Work in standard office and school building environments requiring mobility, visual and auditory acuity, communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, adaptability, technology proficiency, physical stamina and environmental awareness.
