Pay Rate - $34.00/hr. Job Description

The technician will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of complex multi-cavity molds with various types of hot runner systems. The role involves analyzing mold conditions for preventative maintenance using check sheets, QA reports, pull shots, and visual inspection, as well as operating machine tools to fabricate and repair mold components, fixtures, and gauges. Responsibilities

Understand how an injection mold comes apart and goes together and how it functions. Have experience with various hot runner types and manufacturers. Analyze problems with molded parts and determine what/how to repair. Identify and replace or repair parts of molds that are defective. Fit up cores, cavities, ejector pins, and moving parts within .0005 clearance. Read and understand prints showing complex parts and assemblies. Assign tasks for apprentices and utility workers and oversee their work. Clean all plates, cavities/cores, and moving parts of mold with Ultrasonic cleaner and solvents. Make out layout sheets, mold repair tags, and log all repairs in shop log. Make new parts for molds according to print and grind stock before heat-treating. Finish parts to print dimensions. Heat treat parts to specifications per print. Make holding fixtures and gauges for grinding and/or machining for other departments. Figure stack-up dimension of parts. Plug and bore gauge hole diameters. Trig angles for grinding and machining. Indicate parts on shop equipment. Set up and operate machine tools such as manual lathe, milling machine, and grinders, to machine parts, and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications. Lift machined parts, position and secure parts on surface plate or worktable. Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances. Connect wiring and hydraulic lines to install electrical and hydraulic components. Follow all work rules and policies. Essential Skills

Toolmaker expertise. Plastics injection molding knowledge. Injection mold technician experience. Tool and die proficiency. Hot runner systems understanding. Troubleshooting abilities. Tooling and die repair skills. Mold and toolmaking proficiency. Additional Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Four years of experience on the job or apprenticeship. Experience in the construction, alteration, or repair of complicated tools, molds, and gauges. Why Work Here?

This role is based in a manufacturing facility with a structured shift pattern. First shift runs from 7 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. Shift differentials are available: $1.00 for the second shift and $0.60 for the third shift, with an additional $1.00 for weekend work. Shifts may have a pass-down time, so start times might be adjusted by 6-12 minutes earlier. The facility maintains a professional dress code appropriate for a manufacturing environment.
