The Associate Director will providetechnical leadership in the Office of Institutional Research by overseeing thedesign, management, and analysis of institutional data. This position willcombine expertise in institutional research, data engineering, and analytics tosupport academic and operational strategies. This role involves managing data infrastructure, designing data models,and collaborating with campus stakeholders to deliver actionable insights that supportdata-informed decision-making. Responsibilities include: Data Management: Developand maintain data models to consolidate data from various sources,including the Operational Data Store and external datasets, to be used ininstitutional reporting, metrics, and special studies. Buildsystems and processes to ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy. Technical Leadership: Leadthe technical aspects of institutional research projects, ensuring thatsolutions meet project requirements. Providedirection in the design and implementation of analytical systems andprocesses. Overseeadherence to best practices in reporting standards, coding, and datamanagement through reviews and quality assurance processes. Provideguidance and support on data-related tools and techniques to optimizeperformance and usability. Serveas acting Director in the absence of the Director, proving leadership andcontinuity for the Office of Institutional Research’s operations and strategicinitiatives. Data Analysis and Reporting: Collaboratein the creation of visualizations and dashboards to present institutionaldata findings, supporting data-informed decision-making across campusdepartments. Designscalable and efficient systems for data consolidation and analysis thatsupport institutional research objectives, including external reporting,data requests, and research studies. Collaboration: Engage with data owners,requestors, and users to define reporting needs and analyze businessprocesses to improve efficiencies. Research and Innovation: Utilizedata analysis and visualization tools (such as SQL, Python, Tableau,Cognos, etc.) to perform analyses and present data findings. Exploreemerging technologies and methodologies to enhance data accessibility andexpand the use of institutional data. Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Master’sdegree preferably in business administration, computer science, or relatedfield. Knowledge, skills, and abilities: TechnicalSkills: Proficiencyin data management and engineering practices, including data integrationand ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. Advancedskills in programming languages, such as SQL and Python, for dataanalysis, modeling, and reporting. DataVisualization and Reporting: Expertisein creating interactive dashboards and data visualizations using toolslike Tableau, Power BI, etc. Stronganalytical thinking with the ability to translate complex data intoactionable insights. Knowledgeof best practices for presenting data in an accessible and actionableway. InstitutionalResearch Trends and Practice: Familiaritywith higher education data systems and key performance indicators. Knowledgeof reporting standards and compliance requirements related toinstitutional research. CommunicationSkills: Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills to translate data into clearreports, presentations, and recommendations. Strongproblem-solving and critical thinking skills. Abilityto work independently and collaboratively, with strong attention todetail. Flexibilityto adapt to changing institutional needs and priorities.
